Based on the first team as it is now, what final position should we reasonably be aspiring to?
I know the window's got a few hours left, but the first team looks incredibly strong on paper already. Someone on another thread said that it's now up to the defence to stay sure. I agree with that, particularly as the midfield and (when fit) attacking line-ups look as exciting as I can remember.

Based on whatever first team Bilic chooses to field, and on the two away results so far (put the home games into the Anomaly File for now) there aren't many teams in the division who you'd say are automatically likely to beat us.

So what position is a realistic par for us this season?

Despite our two home defeats, probably due to some tactical nievity on the side of Bilic, I think that we have a more solid look about us and also the added spark of Payet. The three or four end of window incomers also boost the overall strength of our squad such that with all players fit it's a pleasure to have many differences of opinion over our best eleven.

The three players we brought in aren't that good. I could easily see Newcastle doing to us what Leicester and Bournemouth did, and WHO will go back to slagging off the team, the Daves and Bilic.

Over-inflated expectations usually result in a shock loss for us. I said exactly the same thing after Arsenal.

Butland was sold by Brum when we were looking at keepers and I cannot believe we didn't sign him :-(

Difference to me from a week ago is what we have lost as much as what we got in,Nolan, Magia and Jarvis were woeful and replaced with much much better options and if they settle pdq we can hurt anyone this season, two aways Arse and Liverpool 6 points,5 -0 goals = outstanding in anyone's nooks and no flukes either.
Get the balance right against barcodes and we can beat them comfortably, looking forward to giving the Munichs a proper game home and away and that's been years since it happened!

Whilst alot of teams have bought well there could be a big change in the 7th to 12th mini league this year

Gomis and Kane get injured thats Spurs and Swans struggling

Lukaku and Shaquiri fire thats Everton and Stoke doing well

Palace could be up there too

6th to 12th ill go

Swansea
Everton
WHU
Spurs
Soton
Stoke
Palace

7th to 11th should be the aim.

We should have no reasons or excuses for not improving on last year given how dire our form was for half a season.

Don't think we're truly strong enough for the top 6, but having said that, aside from the clear top 5 of Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, and maybe Liverpool, there's no team in the league that I look at and think we can't compete with over the season, or should aspire to finish ahead of.

We have a proper squad now.

10th would be nice. Anything high will be a massive bonus. As Sold0 says, a lot of our competition has bought well too.

When we beat City away, i'll say top 6.

Realistically 7th-13th is our zone, anything above is a massive achievement, and anything below is a massive disappointment, with a bit of luck with injuries 7th is do-able, with the luck we normally get 13th is just as do-able

Top 6 is very achievable and even a small possibility of top 4 but as someone else has said we need things to go our way a bit more.
I want to target the cups as Wembley is where West Ham belong 👍
We are getting close to what we all want from our club but need a top keeper and hopefully some of our kids can come through to challenge certain places.

We need to get away from expecting instant results. There's a huge amount to do yet.

Personally I'll settle for 10th or thereabouts.

I think that the position of goalkeeper is going to be the final one that we get filled with the highest quality players .
